Is it me or are these reality shows really redundant. I mean, these people are celebrities and for the most part make good music..but are their personal lives just as interesting as their music. Most of the time, NO! Monica's reality series will air on B.E.T. at the end of October and I can't for any reason think of what will make this show interesting enough to watch(fully). She has already discussed her past issues with her boyfriend that committed suicide(which is bad to have to witness) but what is so relevant in her life today that we should be interested in? We all know that 50 Cent has been trying to get Jay into a battle for a while now. But, contrary to Jay's previous battles it seems like Jay is avoiding 50 Cent. Is it because of how 50 exploited Fat Joe and Rick Ross? 50 has been quoted saying that "Jay avoids beefs and hides behind others" 50 has album to sell and he's good at publicity stunts to help sales.

T-Pain makes up for Apple's decline in downloads.

Apple hit 2 billion downloads recently. During the third quater Apple had 1.5 billion downloads and since then they've have another 500 million downloads with 85,000 applications hitting the market. Also, T- Pains auto tune app contributed to a large amount of downloads for that application.

Chris Brown is working on his forthcoming album Grafitti...and is working with Lil Wayne. Chris Brown is also being assisted by Swizz Beatz. Chis Brown has recorded around about 60 plus songs for the album.

Personally I think ppl are ready to move on from the Chris Brown/Rihanna situation. Besides for some reason I don't think this situation would have blown up the way it did if those pics were not leaked. But hopefully Chris can redeem himself with this album. Time conquers all just as long as he doesn't do something stupid.

Well...supposedly Janet and Madonna want to do a song together as a tribute to Michael jackson. Madonna says that when she saw Janet perform at the MTV awards she was inspired and thought it would be a good move for the two too do a song together.

With recent performances on the Oprah Winfrey show and the NFL kickoff special. The group gained about 32,000 downloads for the song "I got a feeing" making it the first time for having the weeks number 1 download.

Hov expected to move another 200k, Kid Cudi also expected to move 100-120k.

Drake is projected to chart well, also. Drake will without a doubt move the most units. Trick Daddy and Lil Boosie have album releases, too. I think Trick Daddy and Lil Boosie will move 70-85k combined in the first two weeks. But, we'll just have to wait and see.

What will be the fate of Drake?

I will admit that I don't check for Drake's music that much. But, as of late I've been reading "industry" blog sites about him. And the stuff I'm reading is not in favor of Drake. It's either you like his singing or you like his rapping. The main debate is that Drake is new but he's not "new" and he's being labeled as a "reproducible" artist. Drake personally said in an interview that he doesn't listen to Rap that much, he highly prefers R&B and would rather sing more. Now the question is..why don't you do you that? Now there's is a lot of speculation that Drake is being manufactured to steer separate fan bases into one primary fan base. You see, the effects of this will be the same as the Auto-tune. Will Drake become the industry standard? it's too early to call it.

I will agree that as of right now Drake is free to straddle the fence of singing/rapping. I believe sooner or later Drake will have to choose what side he wants to take. Also, Drake is a Pop artist that raps/sings, therefore he will have to heed the pop culture. The pop culture is what is putting Drake on top but the curse of that is that once the pop culture has you, they can be very cut throat and have no loyalty, ditch you and move to the next hot pop artist. Those powers that be showed that when 50 cent went at Ja Rule and now it's happening to 50 cent minus an adversary.

Drake supposedly wants to drop "Thank me Later" in February. And it's said that he's pushing for appearances by Jay-Z, Eminem, Kanye West and Young Jeezy.

I didn't know but now I do...and this chic can blow. I was watching the rehearsal on FUSE and I completely forgot about Jay the second I heard her sing the first note. Let's hope Jay doesn't drop the ball on BK!

Mo' money more problems, huh...well it seems that Beyonce my have a lawsuit on her hands. The "word" is that Beyonce has been hit with a trademark infringement lawsuit from the head honcho's at clothing firm Abercrombie & Fitch over plans to release her own perfume. Also, they may even go as far as trying to block the release Bey's perfume.

We'll just have to wait and see about this.

It's been a while since I've posted anything here. Actually, I've been tryin' to figure out how to make my blogs more interesting. I don't want to flood the blog with music and videos that are everywhere else. Well..I am still posting a lot of what's common but, I'll be adding commentary to it. In other words I'll be adding podcast to all my posts. You'll be able to hear directly what I think about things. It may not even be about any music or entertainment. T.I. to only serve 2 months?

Well, the word is that rapper T.I. is to only serve 2 months. The rapper and the self-proclaimed "King of the South," had faced a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine for each charge in his three-count indictment. How, do you ask? well his sentenced is supposedly reduced due to time served. T.I. must report to the minimum security prison in Forest city by noon on May 26th.

Dolla 1987-2009

Atlanta based rapper Dolla(Roderick Anthony Burton, Jr) was shot and killed shortly after 3pm on May 18th in Beverly Hills, at the Beverly Center. Sources say that it stemmed from an altercation in Atlanta. While Dolla was standing in the valet area waiting for his vehicle is when Dolla was shot multiple times including a shot to the head. The man suspected of shooting Dolla is man named Aubrey Louis Berry(23) who is a resident of Snellville, GA. Mr. Berry was later apprehended at LAX. There are two other people being questioned as to their involvement but no charges have been filed. The suspect is being held on a 1 million dollar bond.

Dolla gained national exposure with his break out song "Who the fuck is that" feat T Pain and "Make a Toast".

The word is that Meth had a problem with Joe Buddens opinion as to Meth's relevance in Hip hop. Is there likely to be actual beef between the two? who knows. I don't see this really going any further. I didn't see Redman being involved but apparently he's about business as well. Since Meth has been very outspoken at times about the people in the industry; this does have potential. We'll see.

One of my guy's decided to have a cook out and while there a very redundant conversation came up. We (six of us) started talking about the state of hip hop. What we did like, didn't like and who we didn't like. Everyone had respectable opinions even though majority agreed on a lot. But, the interesting thing about the conversation is that two of us happen to be rappers (including me). And, one thing that we all seemed disgusted with is the irrelevance the mid west has or had in Hip hop. Mainly every artist that has been successful hasn't been able create a movement in the mid west. Artist such Kanye, Eminem, Twista and other notable artist have all had major success. But that success still brings no justice to the mid west because no mid west city has become a Mecca such as Atlanta, Houston or Miami, places that can actually break an artist if he/she can maintain a buzz. In the mid west it doesn't matter how much buzz one gets, it's merely impossible to get a break. Most people have to relocate in order to get somewhere and that shit ain't cool.

My city has already made it clear it will mildly support local artists. Seeing local DJ's jump the bandwagon time and time again is getting irritating (certain local artist are force fed). With all that going against many artists that are out of that loop, they have to keep griding. Local artist need to expose themselves in places that support and keep the music alive. The mid west is a dead market entirely at this time. The dollars spent will not bring much sense to an artist digressing in a dead market. When you don't see a way, you have to keep searching. Artist have to get back to grass roots, which is objective to this internet movement, but I'll speak on that later. Your the only one that will do for you at this point so do all that you can. Remember, you get back what you put in so if you are smart with the money you invest in your music career you'll be highly rewarded.
